PARKWAY
YOUTH GROUPS
The ministry of Parkway UCC greatly
values and affirms the contributions of our youth! Middle and Senior High
members serve as lay readers, ushers, or greeters during worship. Some youth
also choose to participate in drama presentations, instrumental and vocal
ensembles.
Besides
being a part of whole church activities, both the Middle and Senior High Groups
gather for activities on their own. A balance of fun, faith, and service
activities are planned. [The summer
mission trips are always a highlight each year.] Watch the newsletter and
bulletin for when such events occur. The youth do their own fund-raising to
support these activities.
FRIENDSHIP DINNERS
These dinners for members and friends,
take place at a variety of times throughout the year. We dine at people’s homes or at local
restaurants. Both family friendly and
adults-only dinners are scheduled. This is an invaluable way for people to get
to know one another!
WOMEN’S
FELLOWSHIP
The Women’s Fellowship Quilters
& Crafters meet every Tuesday. The time schedule is flexible, some
arriving early in the morning and others staying later in the afternoon.
Successful
apple butter sales have been held the past several years. The proceeds have
been used to help finance projects for the physical plant, as well as the
operating fund and benevolences.
AWOL
–
Adventurous
Women Out Late
This group gathers once each
month for a night out! These ladies have
gone to the movies, live theatre, art show openings, and out to dinner.
CENTERING
PRAYER
Have you wondered what “Centering
Prayer” means? Following are a few sentences pointing toward what centering
prayer means for one PUCC member, Dick Simonson: “I find this discipline
of silence twenty minutes a day to be so refreshing each morning before I begin
my day. The simple method outlined in the book we're reading (Open Mind,
Open Heart) is so helpful. What is most exciting for me is the gatherings
and the sharing of that quiet time in Kevin's office on the 1st and 3rd
Thursdays of the month, the quiet time, and the scripture study of the Gospel
reading for the following Sunday in Church.” Find your CENTER by joining in
Centering Prayer 1st and 3rd Thursdays,
6:45pm – 7:45pm.
MEN’S
GROUP
The men have breakfast on the second
Wednesday morning of each month at 7:30 a.m. in the Heritage Room. The group
shares in faith building discussion and also engages in service projects. Any
man is welcome.
PUCC
FAMILY FUN
This is for all of us, whether we are
one of those wife – husband – 2.2 kids and a dog families or not … because we are a
church family. We meet monthly –
sometimes for a picnic in the park, a day at the zoo, bowling or
make-your-own-sundaes at the church.

EVENING
DIALOGUE
Evening
Dialogue meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 6-8pm in the
Heritage Room. A pot-luck meal is
followed by sharing time for spiritual nurture.
Come join this lively bunch of 'readers and eaters' for a
potluck dinner in the Heritage Room beginning at 6:00pm on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday
each month. No reservation necessary, just bring a dish to pass (entree, salad,
dessert) and enjoy the fellowship, and the exchange of ideas about the current
book and a variety of other topics.
This group
is for all Parkway members and friends between the ages of 20 and 29. (Ages 19 and 30 count, too!)
We gather to make friends, socialize, and try new things. We’ve gone to
St. Louis Bread Company, had a game night, and had a pizza and movie night and
more events are in the works! Please come and join us!
Second Saturday Cinema will now be First
Friday Films. (Did you see what I
did there? A true alliteration. I digress.) Danielle
and I are super pumped about First Friday Films. We will be starting this new program
on the first Friday of each month. We will be in the Heritage Room.

GIFT – Getting Interracial Families Together
GIFT was created as an informal sharing and support
community for interracial families of all types. GIFT’s primary goal is to
build relationships among families who have a unique understanding of the joys
and challenges of loving and living with people who are of a different race
than themselves. As we socialize, we all benefit from new friendships with
families who are like ours, with whom we can ask questions, tell stories and
share advice. We welcome couples and families of all ethnic mixes who are
interracial by birth, marriage, or adoption.
