SUNDAY SCHOOL INFORMATION

PUCC feels that Christian Education is a priority for all our members from birth through senior adulthood. The caring environment of the church nursery and preschool class provides the youngest among us with their first experiences of God’s love embodied by the church.

Kindergarten through fifth grade, participate in “Pathways of Faith” which happens right after the Children’s Message at the 9:30am service.  We follow the Gather ‘Round curriculum, and more information is available at: www.gatherround.org.  For the July 2009 schedule of lessons, please see below.

Our Middle School youths also have classes of their own in their newly painted Youth Room at this time. [Eighth graders are also part of a fourteen-month faith building and questioning program called Confirmation that meets on Monday nights.]

Stories and Songs is the name of our Christian Education for children during the 11am service.  In a one room schoolhouse setting, children explore Bible stories through Stories and Songs, as well as crafts and other fun!

Adult classes are offered with a range of topics covered (from current events, guest speakers to Biblical Study) during both of the worship services on Sunday mornings and at other times during the week.

SAFE CHURCH

CALLING ALL TEACHERS AND SHEPHERDS!

Let’s help our children have the safest possible environment for growing in faith and connecting with each other!  Please plan to attend a Safe Church Training Luncheon on August 23 following 11:00am worship.  We’ll start out the 2009-2010 school year with good food, fellowship, and invest in our children’s futures.  SAFE CHURCH TRAINING IS MANDATORY FOR ALL TEACHERS AND SHEPHERDS, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be fun!  Contact Pastor Joe for more details: joe@parkwayucc.org.

PATHWAYS OF FAITH

Pathways of Faith is the 9:45-10:45 Sunday School program for children in kindergarten to 5th grade.

July 5             Unity in the body of Christ, Ephesians 4:1–24

The Ephesians are told to live in unity as one body while using all their gifts. They are to put away their old lives and clothe themselves with the likeness of God.

Focus: Younger: Together we are the church.
Older: We use our gifts to build up the body of Christ.

July 12            Pressing on toward the goal, Philippians 3:12–4:9

Paul wants to be like Christ and urges the Philippians to follow his example. They should rejoice and not worry. The peace of God will guard their hearts and minds.

Focus: Stand firmly and joyfully in faith.

July 19            Loving one another, Colossians 3:12–17

The Colossians are called to clothe themselves with compassion and caring, to forgive each other, to love each other, and to let Christ guide their words and deeds.

Focus: We are called to be one body clothed in love.

July 26            Standing firm in faith, 2 Thessalonians 2:13–3:5

The Thessalonians are urged to hold fast to the traditions they were taught, and find comfort and strength in God. Their prayers will aid those spreading the good news.

Focus: We find comfort and strength in God.
